Fun-Day

Today was our fun-day, we had choices of what we could do out of 6 things. I did all of them Christmas mouses, Slip'n slide, stem creations, swimming  fun and cooking.

The most fun thing I did was probably cooking! First we made candy-floss, and to make candy floss you need a candy maker and in that you put sugar into it and then you turn it on. From there on it should heat up, when it is hot enough you put the ice-block stick and circle it around the center. And then something that looks like cob-webs should form on the stick. Then circle it until it the amount of candyfloss you want and the take it out. Voila! you are done.

The next food was waffle which Katherine made for us so we didn't get to make it ourselves. But it was really good we got to put BBQ sauce on them and it was really good it kind of tasted like chocolate sauce. This fun-day was probably the most fun I have ever had!

The past few weeks we have been having athletics practices for our Inter-House competition. We have been taught how to run, throw a shot-put ball, do the long jump, high jump and throw a flying fox. My 2 favourite activities were running and long jump. We learnt how to run technique and lean forward so we can slice through the air with speed. We tried running backwards, running with our arms folded and with our hands behind our backs we went much slower. In long jump we got taught how to jump on one foot and land with 2 always if you landed on one you would be disqualified. I feel like when I doo athletics I have a good chance of hitting up interschool and and winning. -Ariel

From Friday to Sunday I had a swimming meet in Baywave. My first race was the 100 individual medley where I came second to a ten year old, my time was 1.25.52. (He was really fast!) Also the pool was really cold the shock of water struck me as soon as my body touched the water. The nest race was 50m backstroke where I also came 2nd place to the same person my time was 37.87. The next day I only did 2 races 200im and 200m freestyle yet again second to the same person my time for 200m freestyle was 2.38.18. and my time for 200im was 3.00.72. The rest of the races I missed because I was sick with a stomach ache. The next day I only had one race which was 200m Backstroke my time was 2.55.83. Overall I had a good swimming meet and it was very very fun I was happy to represent Swim Rotorua.

My Tiki

MY   HEI TIKI

On June 26 2018 we went on a trip to the rotorua museum. We learnt how to handle tiki's and make one for yourself. My Hei Tiki has 3 sharp claws jutting out of its fist. And Feet that that are flat and look abnormal. Its eyes are 2 buttons sewed together. Together paper I sewed the buttons on was a yellowish color. It has a fluffy pink nose that feels like wool.. And in the middle of its chest is a love-heart. The shape doesn't really look like a Hei Tiki but I guess you can say it is one. So I think it looks like Hei Tiki I don't know about you. 

O Sacred Heart

This is a picture of the cross, the Cross represents the crucifixion, the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us. If it weren't for him we wouldn't be alive.

On Monday we had our school cross country I came 7th. It was intense, I was running with the 9 years old's. But most of the people there were ten year old's. (Unfair right.) But if you were nine at the start of the term you had to race with the nine year old's. I was one of the nine year old's. The race was tiring, we had to run uphill for about 600 meters! Then came the downhill that's when I started overtaking people because I was sprinting. When we got to the end that's when I really started feeling drained but I kept going. When it was the very end I gassed it. The person in front of me slipped and fell so I overtook him. But then he cheated and ran in front of me so I finished second. But overall it was fun! 

Bike Wise

On Monday we started doing bike wise, we learnt to check our helmets and check our bikes. 

HELMETS

1. You need to see if there are any cracks if there are you throw it away.

2. A helmet can only be use once if you fall and hit your head throw it away straight away because a helmet can only be use once

3 . Before you ride a bike check if the straps are under your ears if the aren't put them there. 

4. You need to tighten your straps.

5. Make sure the helmet is covering your forehead

BIKES

1. Make sure your Quick-Release is closed and tight.
2. You have to make sure your handles are tight.
3. Make sure your breaks are working always you crash.
4. Your tires need enough air pressure.
5. Make sure the seat is the right height for you

Making Jelly

These past few days we have been doing  measurements with jelly. If you want to know how to measure it and make some jelly of your own keep reading. First you need to... measure the jelly is when you fill a jug that can hold at least 300 mL on water and then you find how much water you are going to put in it, then you put the amount of water you chose in it. Next you mark how much water you put on them and you pour it out. After that you fill the cup with real jelly and then put it in the fridge for a day. On the first day we got red jelly and I did 40 mL of jelly. On the second day I did 50 and so on. Then on Friday which is today we are going to have it and it's going to be yum!

Jax's Fish 'n' chips

On Monday the 30th of April New Zealand Oprah came to school to perform a show but instead of talking it was singing. The show was called Elixir of love. There were 5 people doing it. It was first performed in Italy 1832.My favourite person was Sampson/Dulcomara. Because he tricke a guy into drinking L&P, he said it was Elixir of love. I really enjoyed their singing voices. Overall I like the Show. The play was about an hour long.

The Ressurection

The resurrection is when a very great miracle that happened, Jesus Christ rose from the dead. This happened when Mary and her friends came to see the tomb and they found it open, then the angel came to them and said that Jesus rose from the dead. So she told Peter and Simon that he rose from the dead. So they ran to the tomb and saw Jesus's tomb open. A few days later some soldiers were walking and they met a man. He told them stories of Jesus and then he showed them his marks from the nails, soon they found out he was Jesus. And told them to spread the word that Christ has risen from. the dead.

Art Canvas's For Children's Day

This is our art Can vase's that will be displayed at the Redwoods for children's day . I'm going to tell you the steps we did it in because you might want to do it! So first you get a paint brush and do little dabs with paint onto the Canvas. Because we found out that if you do little dabs they actually turn out to be a cross! It you hold the brush on the Canvas for to long it just makes a big blob.Then you have to find leafs when you find then you get  your paint brush and paint the leaf. then you put the leaf on the Canvas you push hard. Then you take it of and the paint of the leaf is on the Canvas. When you are done this is what your Canvas should look like.

Ash Wednesday
